Pink Frogfish

The ocellated frogfish are found in the western Atlantic and as far as the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea dwelling in rocky and coral reefs. They are able to change their colour to match the background with high precision, and their camouflage is further aided by numerous warts and filaments on their skin, giving them an appearance similar to rough coral.

Pink Dolphin

The Pink Dolphin is an amazing animal, which lives in the Amazon River, it is usually found in the tributaries and main rivers of the Orinoco River systems in South America. The Pink Dolphin got its amazing pink colour from the kind of water it lives in, and the kind of food it eats. Although the Pink Dolphin has 40% more brain capacity than humans do, it still gets killed and hurt by them.

Pink Katydid

This unusual insects is actually a rare variety of one of a more common katydid that are normally green all over. The bright pink condition is caused by a genetically determined condition called erythrism.

A pink chalcedony shows off its beauty. Chalcedonies include many types of cryptocrystalline quartz gems and feature a number of different colours. Geologists can tell a chalcedony from the arrangement and structure of its crystals.

Goodbye 2009.
As years go, you had your moments and some of them sucked. Goodbye redundancy, bad friendships, feeling worthless.
Hmm maybe things sucked because I let them. Why worry about the ‘friends’ who let me down when so many others continue to show me what a lucky girl I am, and whose love and support help make me a better person. Why worry about redundancy when 9 months on I am self employed, paying my bills (just), free of organisational politics, back stabbing and the constraints of a job title.
So, on reflection, thank you 2009. The journey you sent me on gave me strength, self belief, understanding more of what makes me happy and an enjoyment of a new sense of adventure.
Hello 2010, here’s to embracing your new beginnings, the fabulous friends I have and the new ones I will meet, fun times, work contracts, feeling happy and being open to all the opportunities you have to offer.

Embracing all things pink.

When I was 18 my mum made me a pink birthday cake. I was horrible to her, how could she make me a pink cake? Of all the colours to pick!
As a young girl I’d had a pink bedroom, my best every birthday cake was a lovingly made pink fairy castle. But somewhere in my teenage years I developed a moody, goth-like demeanour that obviously, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, did not embrace pink.
My teens and early 20’s were pink wilderness years and it was only as I was reaching 30 that I started accepting that deep hidden secret that I had tried to deny for so long – I was a Pinky Girl at heart. So much so that my friends were required to join in with a Pinky Girl party – pink food, drink and clothes.
The PinkPlanet blog is part of a creative need to express my inner most pinky thoughts and a realisation that while I don’t need to be surrounded by everything pink, but a bit of pink goes a long way to making me feel happy. So my first new year’s resolution of 2010 is one that I know is going to be easy and fun to keep – to buy, make, research or photograph one pink item a month and share the pinky happiness with the PinkPlanet followers and I hope that you enjoy the pink too!
